revelation...

So as I'm sitting here at my dining room table, sorting through hundreds of blogs taking part in the Sew, Mama, Sew! blog giveaway day - http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/ - I've come to a revelation!

I've been sewing for more than half of my life. 

I cannot believe it.  I feel like I should have more to show for it.  I feel like I should have an etsy shop fully stocked of wonderful things.  I feel like I should be giving something away during this AWESOME giveaway party.  I feel like I should be making myself proud, as well as my long gone Grandma, my best friend, my friend who's gone, my cousin who is gone, my son, my husband, my mom, my entire family...

But instead I've been lazy.  I've made excuses.  I've just plain old given up sometimes.  Other times I'm quite productive and have made a lot.  But overall, I've been full of excuses.  I've told myself it's okay to just put it off for another day.

NO more.

I need to finish the works on my table, sitting there, waiting to be finished.

I need to sew the labels into my son's mittens for skiing so that he won't come home with the wrong black mitten.

I need to sew the baby burp cloths I want to make to Baby Girl M coming to my cousin and her husband in February. 

I need to start making some things out of the One-Yard Wonders book that's due back at the library (2 weeks ago).  I'm accumulating fines and preventing another fellow creator from doing what they'd like to do.  Ugh.  How terrible of me!

Okay, off to sew...after I finish reading more blogs...

Fire-Breathing Dragon was conquered!

Well, it was a success!

I successfully made my 6 year old son happy with shiny scales, a horned tail, strong wings, sharp claws, and breath of fire for his "Fire-Breathing Dragon" costume this year.

And I finished on time for once!  I love it!  I think I'll try to be this organised every year! 

I also made a very special 9 year old her "cute vampire" dress and cloak and all were happy.
