My First Giveaway!

Well, I debated and finally the urge to give something to some random stranger won over!  I don't have many readers here, I don't blog very often, but I do love to create and share!  So after a morning filled with looking at tons of fantastic blogs (all of which are far fancier and do much more than my little blog) and entering tons of giveaways, I decided to host my own!

I love owls...I really really do.  I have a corner of my living room dedicated to Doctor Who, Bublitchki Fest (more on that another day), and Owls!!

I really love owls, and have discovered a new found love for birds in general.  So when we take our son hiking, my husband and I like to look for birds that we haven't seen before as well as any bird, really.  This past weekend we saw Red-Winged Black-Birds, American Goldfinches, a Blue Heron, and a Barn Swallow!  Neither of us had seen the Barn Swallow before and it was beautiful.  Full of iridescent blue feathers...

Anyhow, on to the giveaway!


I'm giving someone a set of four fantastic fabric coasters!  They are reinforced with an absorbent yet thin birdseye diaper cloth to soak up any condensation your cold beverage may be experiencing this summer.  The outer layers are a cute 100% cotton owl print!  I love these and am planning on making more for myself as they will fit perfectly in my living room.

Should I?

I really enjoy reading blogs.  I have favourites that are up in my firefox bookmark bar that I just click the name, see all the posts, go to the post I haven't read yet.  Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how I can do the same thing in google chrome...seems they really just want me to use the reader.  I don't like that.  So I blog via firefox and surf via chrome.  Works so far.

Anyhow, I got turned on to many of these blogs via the Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day a year or so ago.  I've been hooked ever since.  I don't remember how I found that blog, but it happened to be on Giveaway Day!  I was overwhelmed with the amount of blogs out there!  I was amazed at the creativity I could read about and learn from all around the world.  I even won some stuff!  A sweet carrot change purse from Spain, fantastic reusable cloth napkins/tissues which I love, and a quilt pattern!  So exciting.



All of this leads to the fact that May Giveaway Day is almost here and I'm getting excited!  So much so I'm motivated to possibly, maybe, give something away this year!  I can't decide if I should make something or giveaway some fabric...  Or both!  Or neither!  I'm in the process of finishing up an Itty Bitty(all design credit to Made by Rae!) dress to gift to my cousin in a size 3-6 months as her darling girl is outgrowing the one I just made her.  Beyond that I'm planning on sewing up a bunch of stuff to sell in my etsy shop.  I could really use the money and it's silly, just plain silly, to not be doing it. 

So, my plan is to sew as much as I can in the next two weeks and get some stuff posted in my shop.  Then, I'll see if I have it in my to have a giveaway!
