Well, I debated and finally the urge to give something to some random stranger won over! I don't have many readers here, I don't blog very often, but I do love to create and share! So after a morning filled with looking at tons of fantastic blogs (all of which are far fancier and do much more than my little blog) and entering tons of giveaways, I decided to host my own!
I love owls...I really really do. I have a corner of my living room dedicated to Doctor Who, Bublitchki Fest (more on that another day), and Owls!!

I really love owls, and have discovered a new found love for birds in general. So when we take our son hiking, my husband and I like to look for birds that we haven't seen before as well as any bird, really. This past weekend we saw Red-Winged Black-Birds, American Goldfinches, a Blue Heron, and a Barn Swallow! Neither of us had seen the Barn Swallow before and it was beautiful. Full of iridescent blue feathers...

Anyhow, on to the giveaway!
I'm giving someone a set of four fantastic fabric coasters! They are reinforced with an absorbent yet thin birdseye diaper cloth to soak up any condensation your cold beverage may be experiencing this summer. The outer layers are a cute 100% cotton owl print! I love these and am planning on making more for myself as they will fit perfectly in my living room.

I love owls too, they were my grandmother's favourite, when she passed away I inherited a few of her owls, they always make me smile when I see them on the mantle :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite bird though is the Blue Jay, and this year we have a mating pair in our yard, they are oh so beautiful! (And oh so annoying when they start to yell at us for being too close to 'their' tree, heh, good thing they're pretty).

My favorite bird is a cedar waxwing. I lived for many years with a biologist who was a terrific bird-watcher (or twitcher). From him, I learned so much about birds and to be more still and slow when in the woods so as to be able to see more birds. Though we've parted ways, I still think of bird-watching skills as a great gift from him.

Owls, in my part of the world are a sign of bad luck. If one is seen near your home you know someone is going to die.

ReplyDeleteThese are so professional looking :) My fav bird would be the Wag Tail. I had never seen one before until I moved to the UK. They flick their tails up and down and are petite and nicely coloured.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite bird is the hummingbird. Last fall while walking with my dog on on unusually cold fall morning, we came upon one that had gotten too cold to complete it's migration. We picked it up and took it to the local wildlife center where they fed it warmed it up and once it was ready, released it so it could continue on it's journey. Maybe it will be back this year!

ReplyDeleteI love peacocks not because they're beautiful, but because they make the most annoying sound I've ever heard in my entire life. We had "wild" peacocks roosting in the tree outside our apartment while living in India and now every time I see a peacock, I'm reminded of that magical year living abroad.
